After receiving her BFA from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, her work went on to earn Best in Show and Juror's Choice awards for its emphasis on psychology and the finality of human choices. Her Christian faith plays a large role in the subjects of her paintings as she attempts to capture the imperfection in portraitures as beautiful—each stroke purposeful and unique. To mimic this unattainable and divine design, Hayley chooses to use mediums that are more unforgiving and difficult to manipulate into a “perfect” image, like charcoals and oil/soft pastels.
